History

The John Aarts Group story begins in 1978 when John Aarts purchased a small bulldozer and started his own excavating company. Four years later John purchased another bulldozer and a tractor backhoe. Through hard work, innovation and initiative, the company has grown into a well respected, multi-services organization that includes excavating (J-AAR Excavating) and gravel pit operations (AAROC Aggregates), providing aggregate, topsoil, custom crushing and recycling, for a broad range of clients in South Western Ontario. In addition, the company formed and operates AAROC Equipment which provides heavy equipment for use in J-AAR Excavating, AAROC Aggregates, as well as rentals to the public.

The company is owned and operated by John Aarts’ sons, each taking an active part in the strategic and operational direction of the business. Over 100 people are employed by the company and almost 1/3 of the employees’ have been with the company over 15 years.

Innovation, initiative and hard work have been the cornerstones of both employee and company success. With deep rooted pride, everyone continues to drive forward and expand upon the trail of success that was created by John Aarts and they will continue to provide the rudder for expansion and direction into the future.
